STAFF SUPPORT
The Director and Assistant Director of Service Learning are available to consult with faculty members about service learning project development, partnership with community-based organizations, curriculum and syllabus creation, student orientation, and project assessment. Faculty members interested in working with S.O.U.L.S. to develop a service learning component for their course should contact the office at least one semester in advance to begin the consultation process (the current project development time line is posted on the Service Learning web site). Please contact souls@suffolk.edu or call 617.305.6306 to set up an appointment.
SERVICE LEARNING TEACHING ASSISTANTS (SLTAs)
SLTAs work with a specific faculty member to provide support for their service learning project. Trained and supervised by the S.O.U.L.S. service learning staff, SLTAs are available to assist faculty members with student orientation, coordination of service placements, administration of paperwork, reflection activities, and ongoing project management and support. The SLTA is the primary contact person for a faculty member working with S.O.U.L.S. for the duration of the semester.
To request a SLTA for your upcoming service learning course, please indicate your interest on the Service Learning Faculty Planning Form.
