Massachusetts Campus Compact (MACC)

MACC is a nonprofit coalition of college and university presidents committed to developing the civic skills of students, building partnerships with the community, and integrating civic engagement with teaching and research. MACC offers training for faculty, students, administrators, and community partners; print and online resources on service learning pedagogy; campus consultation; and grants and funding resources. MACC also offers periodic conferences on service learning and civic engagement topics. Suffolk University is a MACC member campus.

National Campus Compact

The national Campus Compact website contains valuable resources for service learning faculty, including a searchable database of sample syllabi, program and course models, professional development opportunities, “engaged department” guides, and award opportunities.

Learn and Serve America’s National Service Learning Clearinghouse

Learn and Serve America’s National Service-Learning Clearinghouse (NSLC) supports the service-learning community in higher education, kindergarten through grade twelve, community-based initiatives and tribal programs, as well as all others interested in strengthening schools and communities using service-learning techniques and methodologies. On the Higher Education sector page, you can find success stories and program models from campuses across the U.S., introductory training material on service learning pedagogy, publications, fact sheets, and more.

The Michigan Journal of Community Service Learning

Since 1994, MJCSL has been the premiere national, peer-reviewed journal publishing articles written by faculty and service learning educators on research, theory, pedagogy, and other issues related to academic (curriculum-based) service learning.

Educators for Community Engagement (ECE)

ECE is the only national organization committed to democratizing classrooms and communities through learning circles, service-learning, and critical dialogue. Based at UMass-Amherst, ECE brings together college and university students, faculty, staff, and local community organizations to develop and implement creative strategies for teaching, learning, and social justice.
