The S.O.U.L.S. Center recruits faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences and Sawyer Business School to serve as Faculty Fellows with the service learning program. Faculty Fellows work with the service learning staff to increase awareness about service learning opportunities among the faculty, develop and facilitate faculty trainings, and serve as a resource to the S.O.U.L.S. staff as we strive to continuously improve our support of service learning faculty throughout the university.

Current Fellows:

John Berg, Government

Greta Meszoely, Sociology

Chris Rodriguez, History

Responsibilities of Faculty Fellow

  • outreach to other faculty in their department about service learning as pedagogy (i.e. present at departmental meetings, host luncheon, etc.)
  • incorporate service learning into a course during the academic year
  • assist with and participate in orientations, debriefing sessions, and task force meetings related to service learning in their college
  • assist S.O.U.L.S. staff with assessment initiatives
  • engage in a service learning professional development activity (i.e. conference, publication, etc.)

Eligibility

All full-time and adjunct faculty are welcome to apply. Preference to applicants who have been actively involved in implementing service learning at Suffolk University.
