Community Service Projects – Community partners work with S.O.U.L.S. staff and student leaders to develop both one-time and ongoing volunteer projects. We also promote existing service opportunities to connect our partners with student volunteers.

Service Learning Projects Service learning courses incorporate a community service component into the academic curriculum, in order to enhance student learning and address a community-identified issue. Projects can involve either direct service or research coupled with faculty-facilitated reflection activities. In the past, students have mentored public school children, taught English as a Second Language, and worked on urban farms; they have created housing resource guides for the homeless and public service announcements for community advocacy groups.

Service learning projects contribute to the mission of our partner organizations, while offering community partners the opportunity to serve as co-educators for Suffolk students. Community partners are invited and encouraged to visit the S.O.U.L.S. Center and to participate in events, classroom discussions, and forums to share your expertise and insights with our students, faculty, and staff.
