Saturday: 9:00am – 10:45pm
Sunday: 10:00am – 10:45pm

Four Week Revit 2009 Workshop Announced

Workshop description:
An introduction to Revit Architecture 2009, this workshop will explore the features and professional uses of Revit for the design studio and professional office.  The four week workshop will focus on design and modeling techniques leading towards construction drawings.  This workshop will also explore how Revit can interact with other architectural design software including AutoCAD and SketchUp.  Students will develop a small design project together and a basic layout of construction drawings for that project.

19th annual IIDA New England Leaders Breakfast

The 2009 IIDA New England Leaders Breakfast Committee is pleased to announce that the 19th annual IIDA New England Leaders Breakfast will be held Tuesday morning, May 5th at the Intercontinental Boston Waterfront Hotel, at 510 Atlantic Avenue in Boston.

UPDATE: Adobe InDesign

Adobe recently released Creative Suite 4 (CS4) which includes Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and more. We are not upgrading the interior design computers to CS4 until the Fall 2009 semester.

If you are using Adobe InDesign CS4 at home, you must save your files as an InDesign Interchange file or they will be unable to open these documents on campus.

The Box and the Curve: Modern Furniture Exhibit

BOSTON — The Box and the Curve, an exhibit at the New England School of Design at Suffolk University Feb 2 through 16, 2009, features the work of two furniture designers who combine art and artisanship in their work.

Mark Del Guidice and David Sears, cutting-edge designers of modern furniture, will discuss their work from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10 at the art school gallery.

SCAD presents International Interior Design Student Competition: LINK’Design

SAVANNAH – Savannah College of Art and Design presents the 2009 International Interior Design Student Competition.  In its inaugural year, students are asked to develop a 4-D visitor experience for the Fort Pulaski National Monument Visitor Center Complex on Cockspur Island, Ga.

Students enrolled full-time in a college or university are invited to develop designs that encompass historical, ecological, economic and cultural issues surrounding the United States National Park Service Monument. The winning student team will receive $4,500, with runners-up teams receiving $1,500 each. Finalists will also receive media coverage and serious consideration for the renovation of Fort Pulaski National Monument Visitor Center Complex. [Read more…]

Design New England is a bimonthly magazine that focuses on high-end residential interior design and architecture. Candidates for internships should have strong writing skills as well as an interest in home design and related trends, products, and people. Interns will conduct research and interview design professionals, merchants, and homeowners in order to write stories.
