ID Student Lighting Workshop / Spring 2009

Beginning lighting students in Professor Anna Gitelman’s Intro to Lighting Course were treated to a guest lighting design workshop in late April of 2009.
Interior Design Co- Director Nancy Hackett was instrumental in bringing Barbara Macaulay, of Hogan Macauley, Architecture + Light of Providence, RI to NESAD/SUffolk for the workshop. Ms. Macaulay has been involved in several recent civic lighting installations for the Providence Preservation Society and the International Convergence Arts Festival in addition to her lighting design work for private clients.
As seen in the images below, students explored dramatic lighting effects and colored light through the use of archtectural models of various spaces. Designing with Light was the theme of the Workshop ….Clearly experimentation and creativity were the focus of this workshop experience.
