Local Internships

Local, Boston-Area Internships Want to try your hand at a State House internship and explore the intricacies of state-level governance? Or learn about the politics of constituent services in a US Senator or Representative’s home office? Discover how a law firm operates on a day-to-day basis? Work in the fast-paced world of election campaigns? Then our local internship program is for you!

GVT 521 – Internship in Government: Put your skills into practice! Learn about how government agencies, legislators, law firms, NGOs, political parties and other organizations function with real-world experience. Suffolk’s fantastic location (steps from the State House, City Hall and Boston’s financial district) gives our students unique opportunities to integrate their education into a professional setting, and get in on the ground floor of the organizations, businesses and branches of government that shape our world. Turn your career goals into reality! This course fulfills the College of Arts and Sciences’ Expanded Classroom Requirement.

About Dr. John Berg: John Berg has a wide network of contacts in all areas of politics and government, to help you match your internship placement with your career and learning goals. Contact him at jberg@suffolk.edu for more information about local internships!

Please note:

  • Students must register for GVT 521 and complete their internships concurrently.
