A State Senator from the North Shore/Merrimack Valley is seeking a
legislative aide and scheduler.
Responsibilities include:
· Managing the Senator’s schedule
· Administrative office duties (answering phones, handing daily mail) ·
Constituent casework, including responding to e-mails from constituents and
working with constituents over the phone on various issues. · Staff the
Senator at meetings in the district · Keeping track of meetings and events
happening in the district · Manage office mailings · Compile the Senator’s
monthly e-mail newsletter · Conduct office hours in the district · Event
planning
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree or higher.
· Willingness to attend meetings in the evenings and weekends. · Willingness
to occasionally speak on behalf of the Senator at meetings and events. ·
Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task, work
under pressure, and meet deadlines. · Excellent communication skills (phone,
verbal, writing – including spelling & grammar skills). · Proficiency in
Microsoft Office applications. · Proactive attitude, attention to detail and
ability to complete multiple assignments and duties in a timely manner. ·
Personable (over the phone and in person). · Ability to think critically and
work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred qualifications:
· Ties to the Merrimack Valley/North Shore.
· Working knowledge of the Massachusetts Legislature and legislative
process. · Prior political and/or campaign experience.
This position is located in Boston, with frequent travel to the Merrimack
Valley/North Shore required for meetings.
Salary is $32,000 per year plus state employee benefits, including health
and vision insurance.
